I can't believe it's been a whole month since I've posted. Bad Me!
Since May 8:
We've moved. Our little square house is proving to be very small indeed, and it's going to take months before we can get all the things we need, but slowly, slowly, things are starting to look like someone lives here.
Today, the air conditioners came, so now we can actually breathe! Oh, that was a special blessing in itself. I ordered a fairly large model because the rooms are open, and we will have to cool the living room, kitchen, stairs and hall all at once. It took weeks before the man finally installed it, but after he did, he said, "Oh, I put in one size bigger than you ordered." I gulped. We had barely enough for the smaller model. But then he went on. "We had an extra one at the shop that someone had ordered by mistake, and they said I could give it to you for the same price."
Isn't God good? We'll be cooler for less electricity all summer!
A lot has happened for the Watanabe family. The baby is another boy, so this will make four.
They drove up North for an interview with the Mustard Seed Foundation to see if they were eligible for a grant to start a new ministry in Hoshino where the church has land for a camp. Turns out they were accepted, but only if the church will match the funds. That's not really possible for our little congregation, but there will be a business meeting about it Sunday none-the-less. It's a touchy situation, and feelings are on edge about the matter.
Please pray that the church will maintain love and unity during this important decision, and that no-one will be hurt. Also that God's desires will prevail. Pray that the decision the Watanabes have made to serve God with their lives will remain strong however things turn out.
Hey, there's one more piece of news that's huge for me. Ryota Fukami, a young man we've been teaching Enlish to for years has decided to study the Bible with me once a week! Pray that I will have wisdom about how and what to teach him, and the satan won't be able to put stumbling blocks in his way to keep this from really happening!
AND please don't forget to ask the Holy Spirit to simply overwhelm us in the Sunday service this week. You know what? I didn't get a chance to ask you to pray last week, and the sanctuary was nearly empty! The difference your prayers make is literally visible each week! Church starts at 10:30 on Sunday morning. That's 9:30pm Saturday Eastern, 8:30 Central, 7:30 Mountain, and 6:30 Pacific. Satan doesn't want us to grow as a church, either in numbers, or in faith, unity and love. Your affirmation that Jesus is Lord in Kurume is just as powerful, as our service is. Please, help us to lift the banner high!
